The best way to reach the island is by boat, as the lake is densely lined with reeds on its shores.
While in Krka National Park, you should also make sure to visit the Travertine Waterfalls. They are among the most beautiful natural wonders in Europe and offer a breathtaking sight. The national park is located exactly between the coastal cities of Zadar and Split.

If you want to visit the two saltwater lakes Veliko Jezero and Malo Jezero, you need to head to the small island of Mljet in southern Croatia. There you'll find the large and small lake, which are connected by a canal. You can easily explore the small island on foot, as some areas are completely car-free. If you need a little break from the tourist crowds, Mljet is the perfect place to relax and enjoy nature. The small island is located near Dubrovnik and is best reached by ferry.
3. Crveno Jezero
Crveno Jezero, which translates to 'Red Lake', is probably one of the most spectacular lakes in all of Croatia. Due to its location in a karst sinkhole, it offers a unique view and attracts many visitors. The lake gets its name from the surrounding rocks, which have a reddish-brown color.
Anyone wanting to see this natural phenomenon up close should head to the town of Imotski. Crveno Jezero is only 1.5 kilometers from Imotski and is very easy to reach by car. Here, you will also find numerous caves and cliffs that extend far below the water's surface. You should not miss this natural spectacle!
4. Modro Jezero
Like the Red Lake, the Blue Lake is also located in a karst sinkhole and is near Imotski. It gets its name from its stunning blue shimmering color, which takes your breath away. The lake has an average depth of 100 meters but can vary depending on the season.
During very hot summer months, it can even completely dry up. Locals traditionally play soccer on the field then-so the lake can be utilized in this way. Above the lake, there is also the Topana Fortress, from which you have a great view of the surrounding area.
5. Jezero Mir
One of the country's most beautiful lakes is located on the island of Dugi Otok. Jezero Mir is a saltwater lake that shines in beautiful shades of blue and offers a fantastic view.
