Map: The Most Beautiful Beaches on Mallorca at a Glance
Do you want to get your bearings on the island, pick your personal favorite beach, or perhaps several beaches, and plan your next Mallorca vacation? We have created a practical map for you that shows exactly where to find the most beautiful beaches on Mallorca.
Dream Beaches in the South
Do you want to spend your Mallorca vacation a little away from the party and tourist hustle, get to know the more genuine side of the island, and even relax in a small, hidden cove? Then the diverse southern part of Mallorca is perfect for you. From the Caribbean-like Es Trenc to the idyllic Cala Mondragó - we accompany you to the most beautiful beach sections along the southern coast.
Es Trenc
One of the most famous beach sections in the southern part of the island is undoubtedly Es Trenc. Since the beach stretches over a generous six kilometers, you are guaranteed to find a sunbed here in every season. With its fine white sand, impressive dune landscape, and bright turquoise water, Es Trenc is a true highlight among beaches. Here you can relax like in paradise - and if you get bored sunbathing, just jump into the crystal-clear water to cool off.
A nearby parking lot costs you 8€ per day. The beach also has a designated nude area, and you can rent sun loungers if needed.
Caló des Moro
A unique natural beach in a beautiful, rocky environment primarily attracts locals to this area in southern Mallorca. Caló des Moro is not exactly easy to reach and offers neither dining options nor lifeguards, but that makes it a special place. With its crystal-clear water and beautiful location, the cove is not only one of the most popular but also one of the most beautiful beaches in all of Europe.
Unfortunately, in recent years, there has been a recurring problem: Due to its steadily growing popularity, more and more tourists have made their way here, parking wildly on the surrounding roads, which are already narrow, making it difficult for locals to get out of their streets. This situation has now led to high fines and even road closures.
If you still want to experience the cove, it is advisable to park a little outside and take a short hike or come by bus. The visit is definitely worth it, even in the off-season.
Vacation Guru Tip
If you don't want to miss the view, it's advisable to take bus line 505 via Santanyi to Cala s'Almunia. From this very beautiful cove, you can reach Caló des Moro after a short walk.
Cala Pi in the Southwest of the Island
The romantic cove in the southwest of Mallorca lies right by the town of Cala Pi and fjord-like stretches into the sea. The beach is nestled between wooded cliffs and attracts many visitors during the high season, who especially appreciate the Mediterranean flair of the cove.
So if you want to relax at an idyllic cove located between steep coasts that provides cozy, shady spots in between, then you are in the right place. You can learn more about Cala Pi in Mallorca in our detailed report in the travel magazine.
Portals Vells
Four different coves are located here south of Magaluf, nestled closely together. The so-called "Three Finger Cove" invites swimming, snorkeling or even jet skiing. Among the neighboring bays, Platja de Portals Vells is considered the largest and most family-friendly beach. About three kilometers from the next town, Magaluf, and a very bumpy road lie between you and the Three Finger Cove. But the effort is absolutely worth it!
One of the neighboring coves of Portals Vells is the infamous El Mago beach, named after the film of the same name. The classic film with Anthony Quinn, Michael Caine, and Candice Bergen was shot here in 1967. If you want to snag a spot, you'll need to get up especially early because by noon, the small cove is already quite full. If you wish, you can also stop by the beach bar for a cocktail.
Don't be surprised, as this little patch of sand is also the island's most famous nudist beach.
Cala Llombards
You can escape mass tourism in the cove of Cala Llombards. This beach is especially popular among locals, especially due to its surroundings, densely covered with pines and pines. The fine white sandy beach is very shallow, making it perfect for families with small children seeking a relaxing day by the sea. If you want to cool off in the crystal-clear sea, you can jump directly into the water from a nearby cliff.
The cove itself belongs to the municipality of Santanyi and is conveniently reachable from there. It's worth taking a stroll through the lovely town filled with restaurants, bars, and small boutiques followed by a beach visit.
Parc Natural de Mondragó
There are several access points to the Mondragó National Park - whichever way you go, you'll end up at two of the most beautiful beaches on the island. The route takes you from a parking lot between pines and various vegetation down to the gorgeous beach.
The two coves are connected by a short walking path along the cliffs, providing beautiful views of the turquoise water along the way. If you prefer it quieter, make yourself comfortable in the Cala S'Amarador cove.
If you like a bit more hustle and access to a larger restaurant, Cala Mondragó is just right for you. Best to use GPS, as the narrow paths to the parking lots can be quite tricky.
Charming Beaches in Northern Mallorca
While there are no fine sandy beaches in the north and along the northwest coast like in the south, we have selected two very special gems for you - Cala Pi de la Posada and Cala Figuera. See for yourself what makes these two bathing spots so special.
Cala Pi de la Posada
Cala Pi de la Posada is somewhat confusing: it refers to the beach in the north of the island, halfway to the Cap de Formentor, not the cove in the southwest of Mallorca. Cala Pi de la Posada, also known as Platja de Formentor, is considered one of the most beautiful beaches on the island, boasting an excellent location nestled in the Bay of Pollença.
Surrounded by shaded pine groves, it's wonderfully relaxing, and the white sandy beach is very popular among tourists. Caribbean vibes included!
Cala Figuera
Cala Figuera is one of the many small but very beautiful and authentic coves in the north of the island. But don't get confused here as the cove is often mistaken for the small fishing village in the south of the island, which also bears the name Cala Figuera.
Away from mass tourism, you can enjoy breathtaking panoramic views of the shallow waves in the cove and fully relax. However, it can also get quite crowded around lunchtime. So plan your beach trip in advance and make sure to head out early in the morning.
Jewels in the Northeast of Mallorca
The northeast of Mallorca also has some highlights for you to explore. Here, you should not only visit the famous Dragon Caves and traditional weekly markets but also the numerous beautiful coves and beaches.
Cala Torta
Cala Torta is the perfect place to enjoy nature, a slightly larger cove near the town of Artà. The sand here is a bit coarse and rocky, but that doesn't detract from the bathing experience. Since the cove drops off to the sea rather quickly, it isn't quite as popular among tourists, and you'll likely find a free spot in the sun. You can also practice naturism here as nudity is permitted.
Once there, the area is also perfect for a little hike - for example, you can head from Cala Torta to the slightly smaller neighboring coves Cala Mitjana and Cala Estreta, which offer relaxation in harmony with nature. Depending on how the wind is blowing, expect a bit of seaweed, but apart from that, the water is clear and clean year-round.
Cala Mesquida
Cala Mesquida is the northeasternmost bathing cove in Mallorca and offers you a 300-meter long sandy beach to relax on. As part of a nature reserve, Cala Mesquida stands out for its incredibly beautiful location.
On one side of the cove, you have the turquoise water, and on the other, the expansive dune landscape - a dream for nature lovers, right? There's even a free parking lot that you can reach via the road from Artà to Capdepera.
Platja de Muro
Sailing, banana boat rides, diving, playing volleyball, surfing - yes, at the beautiful Platja de Muro, a plethora of sports awaits you. This beach is especially for active vacationers and, due to its shallow waters, is also ideal for children.
Of course, you can also relax under the pine trees on the shore after a heated game of volleyball or take a walk in the dunes. If you spend the entire day here, you can stroll along the beach promenade with numerous bars and restaurants in the evening.
Cala Agulla
Are you wondering which is the best beach in Cala Ratjada? Without a doubt, it's Cala Agulla. The vibrant turquoise water combined with the bright white sand is a sight to behold and looks like it could be printed on a postcard - and it pretty much is.
Activities such as surfing, pedal boating, or banana boat riding draw numerous visitors here again and again, although the beaches around Cala Agulla are nowhere near as crowded as those in Palma. Beach after beach, the available sports offers are overwhelming, and you'll find everything from sun loungers and sanitary facilities to a cool beach bar.
In the small neighboring cove, Cala Molto, you can practice naturism and leave your swimsuit at home. Even quieter is the Cala Gatzu, which is particularly popular among families and those looking for peace.
Beaches on the East Coast of Mallorca
Finally, we would like to introduce you to the three special beaches on the eastern coast of Mallorca that must not be missed in the list of the most beautiful beaches in Mallorca. Small but fine - this perfectly describes these three coves.
Caló d'es Pou
The sandy bay Caló d'es Pou is located in the popular and family-friendly holiday resort of Cala d'Or and is often simply associated with this town's name. It is particularly distinguished by its beautiful location near the harbor and directly among pine trees but also by its clear and wonderfully turquoise shimmering water.
A beach bar, cozy sun loungers, and a few palm and pine trees - sometimes that's all you need for a perfect beach day, right? Even excursion boats from neighboring towns regularly stop by this enchanting cove.
Cala Sa Nau
This small cove is still a true insider tip and is considered a favorite among locals. Surrounded by forests, cliffs, and caves, Cala Sa Nau is located in the southeastern part of the island and is especially known for its legendary beach parties.
Once you find the somewhat complicated path to this iconic cove, you can party on weekends at the Chiringuito beach bar, relax comfortably on stylish bamboo loungers, or use the stunning landscape for hiking.
Cala Varques
Here you will find a picturesque dream beach away from the tourist crowds, right in the middle of the eastern coast of Mallorca. The roughly 90-meter-long Cala Varques cove is a bit outside and therefore hardly accessible by car. Those who want to relax on this fine sandy beach must arrive by boat or take a short hike for the last stretch.
But let us assure you: the journey is worth it! Once arrived, you will not only find white sandy beach and Caribbean-like water but also a paradise of nature waiting for you. The cove is nestled among cliffs and rocks, surrounded by a lush green pine forest, and is virtually untouched outside the high season.
In the nearby coves like Caló Blanc, nudity is not a problem, and the beaches are typically not overcrowded due to their remoteness.
