Overview of El Arenal Tips

This is El Arenal
Mallorca is the largest of the Balearic Islands and is known for two key things: its party hotspot, Ballermann, and its beautiful coves and beaches. El Arenal, also known as S'Arenal or simply Arenal, is located on the southern coast of the island and is particularly popular with party tourists. What many don't realize: In El Arenal, you can wonderfully combine a party holiday with excursions to idyllic coves, as they are not far away. Grab a rental car and explore the surroundings of Arenal, where you'll find plenty of charming places.
Beautiful Coves and Beaches in El Arenal
The famous Playa de Palma stretches from the marina of El Arenal to Can Pastilla over six kilometers. Here you'll also find the mecca of many German soccer clubs, where Ballermann 6 is located, which is the beach section Balneario No. 6. If you prefer short distances to the sea, you'll find the nearest beach right outside your door. One thing should be said, though: at this party beach, the scene is lively! From morning to night, 24/7. The closer you get to the famous Ballermann 6, the louder it gets, and around you, the party crowd is drinking and celebrating. Want to combine beach and party? You're in the right place! Arenal also has a small town beach right next to Playa de Palma, called Playa de S'Arenal. Here, too, you're right by the palm promenade with a view of the Arenal harbor.
Cala Pi and Es Trenc
There are several very beautiful beaches and coves around El Arenal. About a 35-minute drive away is Playa Es Trenc. Once you arrive at this dream beach, you might almost think you've just landed in the Caribbean, as you'll be greeted by snow-white sandy beaches and stunning turquoise seas-simply gorgeous! If you'd rather spend your relaxing hours by the sea at a nice, smaller, and quieter cove, the wonderful Cala Pi is a perfect spot, which you can reach in about 25 minutes by car. Near this cove, there are also some great restaurants, making a day trip here well worth it.
Guru tip: There is plenty of water fun at the famous and 200,000 m² Aqualand El Arenal, the most popular and largest amusement park on the whole of Mallorca. Are you looking for more beautiful beaches? How great it is that I've already found the most beautiful beaches of Mallorca for you!
Party in El Arenal - Ballermann & Schinkenstraße
Now let's get to the part for which this vacation spot is known throughout Germany: the Ballermann, or should we perhaps say the Beer and Ham Street - yes, it's something else entirely. Some are critical, while others are hooked on party fun. A true amusement paradise for those who don't mind Schlager music, who want to drink a lot during their Mallorca vacation, and who enjoy long party nights. Well, maybe 'nights' is an understatement since even during the day, things really get wild here. Free beer promotions and happy hours ensure that vacationers are already partying in the shops around lunch time.
Playa de Palma: The 6 km long beach is divided into 15 sections. You'll find the classic party sections around Balneario 6.
During the season, which usually begins in late April, you can actually party at every corner here. I don't think I need to tell you much about Megapark, Oberbayern, and Bierkönig, right? But they simply have to be mentioned, as they belong here at Ballermann just as much as the big buckets of sangria that are shared among several people with straws.
Bars, Clubs, and More
By the way: The famous beachfront venue Ballermann 6 is located right next to Megapark and Schinkenstraße. This venue became especially known across Germany for its excessive 'bucket drinking'. Today, you can still get sangria and beer here, but wild drinking parties are no longer the norm. Smaller bars and clubs along the beach promenade serve as an alternative to the big clubs. Usually, they don't fall behind the well-known large clubs, and in some cases, they even surpass them in terms of drink prices and music selection.
Food Tips for El Arenal
Of course, your culinary needs are also taken care of here, as delicious, authentic food is available in El Arenal despite the large selection and many tourists. Stroll through the side streets and look for places where many locals are sitting. Typical dishes like paella, which you can order with seafood, meat, or vegetarian according to taste, and the delicious Mallorcan bread with chorizo belong to a vacation in El Arenal just as much as tasty sangria, which doesn't always have to come from buckets.
During my time in El Arenal, I had a very delicious paella at Grand Cafe Del Mar. The restaurant, located between Ballermann 2 & 3, is admittedly not run by a true Spaniard, but you can enjoy a traditional paella in a cozy atmosphere here.
Palma de Mallorca - Excursion to Mallorca's Capital
If your hotel is located directly in El Arenal, you can reach Palma de Mallorca in just about 20 minutes by car, as it is only around 12 kilometers from your vacation spot. More precisely, part of El Arenal even belongs to the capital city of Palma, while another part belongs to the inland city of Llucmajor. Palma is not only the capital of the Balearic island but also the largest city in Mallorca. A visit to the city is simply a must for every Mallorca visitor.
The main attractions in Palma are the famous Cathedral La Seu, Plaza Major, and Almudaina Palace. If you're already on site in the morning, you should take a walk through the city and around the Santa Catalina Market. This area, located to the west of Palma's charming old town, has developed into a true trendy district.
Market Hall and Street Food
Afterward, you can go to the popular Mercado del Olivar to buy fresh fish or enjoy the best paella in town at the Bar Joan Frau. Some say it's even the best paella in Mallorca! Another insider tip is the Mercat de l'Olivar market, where you can find local specialties as far as the eye can see. As you can see, the area around El Arenal has quite a lot to offer culinary-wise. If you feel like a bit of shopping, Palma is also the right place. The large shopping street and the many small boutiques in the area are perfect for this.
Guru Tip: Cycling in Mallorca
Guru tip: Mallorca is also very popular with cyclists. The beautiful landscape can be explored in a much more authentic way than by car. Just rent a bicycle and explore the bike path between El Arenal and the capital Palma this way.
