10 Gems on the Island of the Beautiful and the Rich

Crystal clear waters, snow-white sandy beaches, and abundant sunshine. What initially sounds like a description of a Caribbean island is actually much closer than you think: Ibiza, one of the most popular Spanish Mediterranean islands, has something for everyone. Join us on a journey to the most beautiful beaches of the sun-kissed Balearic Island.

Ibiza is known as a wild party island and a celebrity magnet. Whether at a beach club or on a rented yacht, you can party here exuberantly and often very expensively. However, the third-largest island of the Balearics does not deserve to be labeled only as a party island. Beautiful bays and beaches shape Ibiza's landscape, inviting not only party-goers but also families and couples to sunbathe. Lush greenery, red cliffs, and the turquoise sea not only make the scenery vibrant but also ignite the desire to explore the island in all its facets.

We start the presentation of the most beautiful beaches in Ibiza in the northern part of the island. Just ten minutes by car from San Miguel lies the beach of Benirrás, which invites you to linger with its shingle-laden sandy shore.

The sunset is welcomed with drums and bongos.

Crystal clear waters make the beach especially popular among snorkelers, as one can admire the most colorful fish in their natural habitat. The beach has also gained fame due to its own hippies who greet the sunset every Sunday with their drums and bongos. You definitely should visit this legendary beach if you find yourself in the northern part of the island.

Cala Xarraca

This beach, located near San Juan, is somewhat hidden and more difficult to reach. Cala Xarraca in Ibiza is relatively small and pebbly, but it scores with its unspoiled nature and rugged landscape. This is reflected in the beautiful underwater scenery, enticing you to snorkel and observe fish.

Another special feature of Cala Xarraca is the mud bath that you reach after a hike on the left side of the bay. Here you can apply the special mud to yourself and witness its healing effects. Due to its location, the beach is ideal if you want to take a break from the tourist hotspots and prefer to relax in unspoiled nature.

Cala de Sant Vicent

The beach of Cala de Sant Vicent is one of the jewels of the island. Bright powdery sand, paired with turquoise shimmering sea and surrounded by lush green hills, creates the perfect conditions for complete relaxation. Unlike other beaches, this one is a bit wider, and you can still find a free spot here even late in the day.

Since the beach is easy to reach, it is especially popular among families and older individuals. Sometimes it is a bit windier here, but that does not diminish the charm of the bay. You can use this time to hike to the viewpoint from where you can enjoy a distinctive view of the magnificent, idyllic surroundings. Be sure to take some memory photos so that friends and family at home can share in the beautiful view.

Cala Boix

The enchanting bay of Cala Boix is located in the east of the island and is still considered one of Ibiza's most beautiful hidden gems. It is the ideal retreat, providing the best opportunity to escape the hustle and bustle of cities and tourist crowds. The beach is famous for its dark, almost gray sand, which is unique on Ibiza. So make yourself comfortable and let the sea breeze envelop you while you listen to the sound of the waves. You can only reach the beach via a steep staircase, so be careful when descending.

Insider Tip: The sand heats up quickly due to sun exposure, so you should only walk on the beach during midday with flip-flops or comfortable shoes to avoid burning your feet.

Cala Llonga

Also located in the east of the island is the charming resort of Cala Llonga, about six kilometers from Santa Eulalia. The expansive sandy beach is very fine and even features a playground for younger guests. Since the transition into the sea is very long and shallow here, the beach is especially popular among families.

Once you've soaked up enough sun, you can rent a colorful pedal boat and leisurely cruise back and forth in the small bay or splash into the crystal clear waters from the attached slide. The pine groves around the beach protect the bay from wind and higher waves, creating the perfect atmosphere for relaxation.

Sa Caleta

The small sandy beach of Sa Caleta lies on the southern coast of Ibiza, about ten minutes from Playa d'en Bossa by car. Red cliffs frame the small, horseshoe-shaped bay, shaping not only the landscape but also protecting you from the wind.

The crystal clear waters invite you to snorkel, swim, or dive. Since this beach area is also very popular among locals, you should arrive early enough to secure a coveted spot. If you happen to arrive too late, you can alternatively admire the ruins of an ancient Phoenician settlement located near the beach, which has been a UNESCO World Heritage Site since 1999.

High cliffs and pine forests surround this beautiful sandy beach, which is also located in the south of Ibiza and just 15 minutes from Ibiza Town. Cala Jondal is particularly favored by yacht owners, making it one of the more upscale beaches on the island. There, you can sunbathe alongside glamorous girls in bikinis or attractive beach boys, or dine in luxurious restaurants right on the beach.

A popular spot among celebrities is the Beach Club Blue Marlin or the Tropicana Beach Club, two exclusive locations directly on the beach, where you can not only enjoy the best food but also experience wild parties. If you are among those who enjoy encountering celebrities on vacation, then these two exclusive spots are the perfect places to be.

Cala d'Hort

A little further to the west of the island lies the bay of Cala d'Hort. The sandy beach impresses especially with its tranquil location and unusual view of the island of Es Vedra, which lies offshore in the bay.

Here you can rent a sunbed and umbrella and make yourself comfortable on the beach. After soaking up some sun, you can refresh yourself in the cool waters. That sounds like the perfect beach day in Ibiza, doesn't it?

Cala Conta

Cala Conta beach is considered one of the most beautiful on the entire island and impresses not only with its stunning, idyllic location but also with a variety of activities. Whether banana boat, pedal boat, or jet ski - everything is offered here to get your adrenaline pumping. On the left side of the beach, you can even sunbathe in natural beauty, as fans of nudist vacations are welcome here. Naturally, the beach also boasts beautiful, crystal clear waters shimmering in various shades of blue.

Insider Tip: The sunset here is particularly breathtaking, so it's best to bring a small picnic basket and enjoy romantic evenings at one of the most beautiful beaches in Ibiza.

Cala Salada

The small bay of Cala Salada near San Antonio is somewhat hidden between pine-covered hills and lures especially with its radiant turquoise waters. As soon as you feel the fine sand beneath your feet, you'll just want to spread your beach towel and soak up the sun on Ibiza before diving into the waves.

If you can't find a spot on the beach, you can do as the locals do and alternatively retreat to the surrounding rocks. You can reach the beach during peak season by shuttle bus or a small ferry from San Antonio.
