Too good to be true: Soneva Jani in the Maldives
Soneva Jani, Medhufaru Island - at first glance, it may seem like just another typical luxury resort in the Maldives, but upon closer inspection, you can see what makes this paradise retreat so special.
Overwater bungalows that feature an exclusive infinity pool and a private water slide, gigantic island villas that are more spacious and exclusive than you can imagine, all set amidst a stunning picture-perfect backdrop - Soneva Jani in the Maldives is one of those resorts that exceeds many notions of luxury. If you're wondering why I'm presenting yet another dream hotel in the Indian Ocean - after all, there are more hotels on the Maldives than grains of sand - then take a moment to watch the following video and let yourself be transported to another world.
Soneva Jani in the Maldives
Soneva Jani: Luxurious and Beautiful
Soneva Jani is located in the Noonu Atoll, on Medhufaru Island - an island that measures just 5.6 kilometers long, making it one of the largest in the Maldives. From a distance, you can catch a glimpse - whether from a seaplane or a speedboat - of what awaits you here: the entire island is surrounded by a private lagoon that shimmers in the most beautiful shades of blue, and the accommodations look quite different from what you usually expect from this vacation paradise. But why is that?
The Villas: Individual and Sustainable
It's clear that we expect nothing less than luxurious accommodations with a pool, dream beaches, and views of the turquoise sea when it comes to the Maldives. However, sometimes amongst all the resorts, you might find a true gem that stands out from the rest - and Soneva Jani is exactly that type.
A slide that takes you directly into the turquoise sea of the Indian Ocean.
But first, you need to choose one of the stunning villas: a 4,480 square foot overwater bungalow with no slide, or perhaps a 4,700 square foot bungalow with a slide that takes you from the top floor directly into the turquoise waters of the Indian Ocean? If one bedroom isn't enough for you, there are also options available with two, three, or even four bedrooms, ranging from 6,458 to 13,993 square feet. Another special feature at Soneva Jani: some of the accommodations have a retractable roof, allowing you to stargaze from your bed at night. Just perfect for romantics.
For those who prefer solid ground, you can also relax in the 4-bedroom beachfront villa. Here, you enjoy complete privacy, can swim laps in the large pool, or simply enjoy life on your private beach section to the fullest.
Each of the villas, whether on land or over water, is made from sustainable materials. The interior, very much unlike typical luxury accommodations, has a simple wooden look that makes the villas appear elegant and classy, yet not overly luxurious as one might expect from other 5-star accommodations. The design is understated and stylish, inviting you to feel at home. Just take a look at the pictures, and you'll know exactly what I'm talking about.
The Concept: A Dream!
At Soneva Jani, great emphasis is placed on providing guests with a unique experience. The resort itself speaks of intelligent luxury, which means that they tailor their offerings to the individual wishes of the guests, aiming to provide them with new, rare, and extraordinary experiences that one wouldn't typically encounter in everyday life. Admittedly, picturing myself jumping into my private pool after waking up in the morning or sliding directly down into the turquoise sea - that certainly surpasses any previous notion of luxury in the Maldives.
But if you think that's all, you're mistaken. The guests here are offered much more: in addition to common activities like diving, snorkeling, or dolphin tours, guests can also enjoy wellness treatments on the water, a romantic breakfast on the beach at sunrise, or even a private open-air movie screening at sunset - and believe me, this is just a small selection of the exclusive offerings. It's hard to believe what Soneva Jani comes up with to ensure guests have an unforgettable stay.
Paradise Vacation in the Maldives
What does a night in such a luxurious resort cost, you ask? Admittedly, this place may not be the right choice for budget-savvy travelers, as depending on the time of year and category, this luxury can cost between $2,000 and $12,000 per night.
