Overview of France Tips

Traveling, entry, accommodations, and activities: Here you will find all the important information about France at a glance.

  • France is the largest country in the European Union by area. The country shares borders with Spain, Germany, Monaco, the Mediterranean Sea, and the Atlantic Ocean. In addition to the mainland, France also includes several overseas departments. You can read more about this in the section on France's overseas departments.
  • The capital of France is Paris, which is home to over 2.2 million people.
  • The currency in France is the Euro.

Getting to France:

  • You can reach France through one of the many airports located on the mainland and the islands. Depending on where you want to spend your vacation, you could fly to Toulouse, Bordeaux, Paris, or Marseille.
  • In addition to flying, you can also drive there in your car. You can find all the tips for that on my page about traveling by car.

Weather & Climate in France:

  • As France is a large country with diverse coastlines and landscapes, it has different climate zones: a temperate climate on the Atlantic coast, Mediterranean heat on the southern coast, snowy winters in the Alps, and moderately warm summers in the north.

What France Has to Offer:

  • Anyone who has spent a vacation in France is sure to return again. Culture, nature, and enjoyment are highly valued in France, and you can experience this both in the countryside and in the cities. If you don't want to miss beautiful beaches on your vacation, France is also the right place, as you will undoubtedly find what you're looking for at the beaches of the wild Atlantic and the beaches in southern France.

Accommodations in France:

  • In addition to the many hotels in France, I highly recommend renting a private accommodation through Airbnb. Especially for self-caterers and families, this is a great alternative to the usual hotel stay.
