Barcelona
Cultural, sunny and friendly, Barcelona delights travellers of all kinds. Here you can admire its extraordinary architecture, with the houses of Gaudi and the Sagrada Familia, stroll through the Güell Park and Monjuïc, and stroll through the different districts. In the evening, enjoy the lively nights in Barceloneta, by the sea!
Santiago de Compostela
Santiago de Compostela, in its French version, is the capital of Galicia, in the northwest of the country. It is one of the most important Christian pilgrimage sites in the world, ranking third after Jerusalem and Rome. Hundreds of thousands of visitors take the paths leading to the city every year, sometimes for religious fervour, but also for the sheer pleasure of hiking. On site, you can discover the cathedral of Santiago de Compostela, or the monastery of San Martiño Pinario.
Malaga
Located in the south of Spain, on the Costa del Sol, Malaga is a city that smells of sunshine. A must-see holiday destination since the 1970s, this seaside resort is known for its giant hotels and large sandy beaches. There is plenty to satisfy those who love to relax. But culture is also on the agenda. Founded in the 8th century, this Andalusian city is one of the oldest cities in Europe. It has preserved the remains of the Moorish reign, from 716 to the 15th century. There are also many museums, such as the Picasso Museum.
Seville
With its palm trees, orange trees, river and exquisite squares, Seville is without doubt one of the most beautiful cities in Spain. The architecture of this Andalusian city is magnificent, a mixture of Christian and Muslim cultures. The Alcazar, the Plaza de España, the Cathedral of Our Lady of the Seat and the Giralda are a must see. But Seville is also a festive city. In the evening, there's nothing better than eating tapas, watching (or dancing) flamenco and partying!
Madrid
A destination synonymous with sun, relaxation and gastronomy, the Spanish capital also has an exceptional architectural heritage. Culture lovers will be delighted by the Prado Museum and the Royal Palace. And don't miss the Plaza Mayor or the Puerta del Sol. If you want to see some greenery in Madrid, head to the El Retiro park, renowned for its beauty.
Bilbao
This former industrial city in the Spanish Basque Country has reinvented itself perfectly. Bilbao has become a popular cultural destination. The Guggenheim Museum, with its impressive collection, is a work of art in its own right with its futuristic appearance. Take a stroll through the lively Las Siete Calles, the Seven Streets district, with its narrow streets, churches and numerous bridges.
Ibiza
The name of this Spanish island sounds like party music. A paradise for discos, Ibiza also offers another lesser known but more authentic face: that of a place that combines natural landscapes and local culture in small markets. In Eivissa (also known as Ibiza), the island's capital, we recommend a visit to the citadel overlooking the sea.
Granada
Arab culture has permeated the streets of Granada, both in its magnificent architecture and in the flavours of its culinary specialities. At the foot of the Sierra Nevada, this Andalusian city is best known for its Alhambra, a UNESCO World Heritage Site, which includes palaces, the Alcazaba, the Medina, the Generalife and beautiful gardens. The streets lined with whitewashed houses in the Albaicín district and its many churches with beautiful architecture, often with breathtaking views, are typically Andalusian in their charm.
Córdoba
Córdoba is known as the beautiful Andalusia, and this nickname is well deserved. It is a city of cultural and religious diversity: you can admire the Mezquita mosque-cathedral and the Cathedral of Cordoba, or stroll through the Juderia, the Jewish quarter with its bright patios. Its historic centre has been a World Cultural Heritage Site since 1984. After visiting the archaeological museum and the remains of a Roman theatre, the banks of the Guadalquivir are the ideal place to admire the sunset. Finally, why not go and relax in a hammam, open until midnight?
Valencia
Located on the east coast of Spain, Valencia is best known for its City of Arts and Sciences. The city is also famous for its falla festivities, from 15 to 19 March. There, parades with giant papier-mâché figures parade before a joyful crowd. On the last night, the statues are finally burned, followed by a fireworks display and a street party. To recover, head to one of the many beaches.
