Florence, Italy

Florence is surely one of the most beautiful cities in Italy. It alone contains 25% of Italy's artistic heritage. It has also preserved its charm for centuries. It is surrounded by green countryside. Within a radius of about ten kilometres, one can admire superb Medici villas, summer haunts of wealthy Florentines who have been living there for centuries. Today, some of them are classified as Unesco World Heritage sites. If you take a step up, you will see hills and cypresses as far as the eye can see.
The city is also a paradise for art history lovers. The Galleria dell'Accademia is home to many works by Michelangelo, whose tomb is located between the frescoed walls of the Santa Croce Basilica. Called the capital of Tuscany, it is one of the most visited cities in Italy and one of the richest in monuments and works of art.
