Beautiful Gardens Around the World
Beautiful Gardens to Enchant You
Wandering through lush greenery, admiring the brightest flowers and shrubs, and getting to know tropical plants in greenhouses: Yes, a visit to the garden really helps to unwind and refuel.
Beautiful gardens can be found all over the world. Here you can make yourself comfortable with a book in the shade of ancient trees, dive into a sea of colorful blossoms, wander through neatly trimmed hedges, or admire enchanting fountains. Even in Europe, you will come across romantic, beautiful gardens or tropical greenhouses that bring you close to the most exotic plants. Here is a colorful selection of the prettiest gardens worldwide!
The Most Beautiful Gardens in the World
English Gardens
Few countries are as often associated with beautiful gardens as England, which is why I present to you several treasures here.
Perhaps you also have a picture in your mind of neatly trimmed hedges and English lawns that look as if they have been trimmed with nail scissors. You can find well-established, colorful flowerbeds, small fountains, and historic sculptures in The Quarry in Shrewsbury. A bit 'wilder' is Trebah Garden in Cornwall, where you wind your way through a thicket of pretty flowers, palms, and shrubs, feeling like Alice in Wonderland beneath the giant rhubarb leaves. There is also a romantic lily pond and even a small beach.
You can look forward to particularly colorful images and a vibrant variety at the lovingly designed Breezy Knees Garden, which is located near York. The Royal Botanic Gardens in Kew are very popular, where you can experience true jungle feeling in the tropical greenhouse and stroll through a huge park. Another Royal Botanic Garden lures you to Edinburgh, Scotland. A beautiful oasis of tranquility right in the city.
Shinjuku Gyoen National Garden Tokyo
Idyllic tranquility in the midst of a gigantic metropolis? Yes, it exists, specifically in Shinjuku Gyoen National Garden in the heart of Tokyo.
Alongside Ueno and Sumida Parks, this garden is definitely one of the most popular green spots where tourists and locals can enjoy a little break during their lunch hour. Among the many trees that particularly shine in fascinating colors during cherry blossom time or in autumn, the tops of skyscrapers peek out every now and then. Otherwise, you might easily forget that you are right in the middle of the bustling city.

Botanical Gardens in Germany
For your happiness in the greenery, you don't have to travel far, as Germany also has some treasures and beautiful gardens. One is the Botanical Garden in Berlin, which offers you peaceful breaks from sightseeing and city life and is also a great location for Instagram-worthy pictures. Munich also invites you with tropical greenhouses and ponds in the Botanical Garden, as well as the park-like English Garden. Here you can even surf in summer while the park looks absolutely enchanting in winter.
Tirta Gangga in Bali
The magical island of Bali is primarily known for its breathtaking temple complexes, beautiful gardens, and tropical jungle forests. Tirta Gangga in the east of the island also exudes a special charm: a fairytale mix of water, temples, demonic sculptures, and exotic plants. You can wade through the pond basins over stone bridges and small plates, where curious koi peek at you. From here, it's also not far to the popular diving town of Amed.
Guru Tip: You should definitely arrive early in the morning if you want to avoid the tourist crowds to enjoy the tranquility in the park. In my travel magazine, you will find more useful Bali tips for your vacation. You can also find deals for your Bali vacation right here.
Colorful Sea of Tulips in Holland
With our dear neighbors, the Netherlands, we associate not only endless beaches and cheese but certainly one more thing: tulips! In full bloom and every color from yellow, orange, and red to purple and pink, they shine in Keukenhof near Lisse. You can reach it in less than 18 kilometers from the charming student town of Leiden, making it a perfect excursion destination. The coastline with its wide, dune-lined sandy beach is also just a stone's throw away.
The next Tulip Bloom will see Keukenhof open its doors from March 20 to May 09, 2021.
- Location: Lisse, South Holland
- Note: Keukenhof is closed in 2020
- Admission Price: €17, Children (4-17 years) €8
- Opening Hours: March 20 - May 09, 2021, daily 8 am - 6 pm
- Tip: Early in the week, in the morning, or in the afternoon is the quietest time at the estate.
Beautiful Gardens in Austria
Our neighbors to the south also have beautiful gardens to boast about. At Schönbrunn Palace in Vienna and in the gardens of the same name, you can discover a lot, including freeing yourself from a maze. Fans of tropical greenhouses will find an exotic palm house here. It should be a great escape on colder days and dreary weather.
Stroll like the Tsars at Peterhof
The Russian tsar palace Peterhof on the Baltic Sea is one of the most beautiful sights in St. Petersburg.
The opulently decorated palace is framed by a truly picturesque garden area characterized by countless fountains and water features - foremost the stepped fountain with its gilded sculptures. While strolling through the lovely park, you will certainly feel like the tsars of yore. Among the many water games, be sure to admire the neatly arranged flowerbeds - simply magical!
Tropical Garden in Madeira
When you stroll through this garden on Madeira, you might briefly forget which country you are in. Small red wooden bridges lead you over koi-populated ponds, and Asian sculptures and exotic plants line the path: In Monte Palace Tropical Garden, you truly immerse yourself in foreign worlds. The 'African Passion' exhibition will also delight you while you simply enjoy the view over the palms to the vast sea.
Kirstenbosch National Botanical Garden
South Africa is primarily known for its unique nature and exciting national parks. If you are in bustling Cape Town, you should definitely visit the Kirstenbosch National Botanical Garden. There, you can take a close look at the exotic flowers and watch small colorful birds foraging for food. Join an educational tour or simply wander alone through the beautiful landscape. Walk along the canopy walkway and enjoy breathtaking views of the majestic Table Mountain, Cape Town's landmark.
Palaces and Sultan Gardens in Alhambra
Surely, while planning your Spain vacation, you have already flirted with the dreamlike region of Andalusia. A very special highlight is the fortification Alhambra, which proudly towers on a hill. Among the impressive palaces adorned with marble and architectural masterpieces, you will also find paradisiacal beautiful gardens. I highly recommend the gardens around the summer palace of Generalife, where you will also find lovely water features in its romantic courtyard.
Longwood Gardens in Pennsylvania
Are you planning a vacation in the eastern USA? Then you should consider making a stop in Pennsylvania, where the world-famous Longwood Gardens await your visit. Here, you will find not only romantic parks bordered by hedges with lovely fountains and lakes but also exciting greenhouses: from a bonsai exhibition to a Mediterranean garden and a palm house to a greenhouse with edible plants and fruits, everything is included. Depending on the season, you can see a variety of exotic and native plants in full bloom and attend numerous events and exhibitions.
Guru Tip: In workshops and courses, you can learn the art of botanists, practice photography, or arrange pretty bouquets and decor in floral design courses.
Gardens in Bella Italia
In picturesque Italy, you have the choice again, as there are many incredibly beautiful gardens here. Specifically exotic is the Giardini La Mortella near Forio.
The pompous Villa d'Este will enchant you with its tiered fountains and green-covered wells. In the gardens of Trauttmansdorff Castle, you can admire not only the typical cypress trees that rise sharply into the sky and stroll through a maze - the true highlight is the view of the snow-capped mountain peaks. This green paradise near Merano is also perfect for families.
Gardens by the Bay Singapore
One of the most famous gardens in the world certainly cannot be missing from this list: the Gardens by the Bay in Singapore. They are a perfect example of how modern innovation can be harmonized with nature. For example, you can admire futuristic glass buildings and enjoy a spectacular light show at the gigantic artificial trees. Stroll through the tropical jungle or be amazed by the world's largest artificial waterfall.
French Garden Paradise
Do you love everything romantic? Then be sure to head to the Jardins Ephrussi de Rothschild. The namesake villa is a dream in pink and will make your princess hearts soar.
The meticulously kept garden with its nicely arranged paths, rose gardens, boxwoods, and water features will simply transport you into a dream. You also have the sea with its picturesque coast right before your eyes.
About 80 kilometers from Paris, you will find the Monet Garden as an alternative. When you see this floral splendor, it is no wonder that the artist found plenty of inspiration for his works here. But beware: The house and garden are true crowd-pullers, so you should definitely arrive early and buy tickets online in advance.
Montreal Botanical Garden
Canada also attracts countless travelers with its incredible nature.
